Caulking FAQ

Everything you need to know about our caulking service in Melbourne. Can't find your answer? Call us directly.

How often should silicone be replaced?
Bathroom silicone typically lasts 5-10 years depending on usage and ventilation. If you see black mould, cracking, peeling, or gaps appearing, it's time for replacement. Don't wait, water damage behind tiles is far more expensive to fix.
Can you remove black mould from silicone?
Once mould has penetrated silicone, it cannot be effectively cleaned. It must be replaced. We remove all affected silicone, treat surfaces with anti-mould solution, and apply new anti-fungal silicone to prevent recurrence.
How long before I can use the shower after resealing?
We recommend waiting 24 hours before exposing new silicone to water. For best results, allow 48 hours of curing time. We'll advise on exact timing based on the product used and conditions.
Do real estate agents require resealing for bond return?
Mouldy or damaged silicone is one of the top reasons agents reject bond cleaning. Fresh silicone dramatically improves presentation and is often specifically noted on inspection reports. We provide receipts for your records.
What type of silicone do you use?
We use premium trade-grade anti-fungal silicone (not hardware store tubes). Our products are specifically designed for wet areas, remain flexible over time, and resist mould growth far better than standard sealants.
Can you seal around a freestanding bath?
Yes, we seal all bath types including freestanding, built-in, corner, and spa baths. Freestanding baths require a flexible sealant that accommodates movement, and we use the appropriate product for each application.
