Waterproofing FAQ

Everything you need to know about our waterproofing service in Melbourne. Can't find your answer? Call us directly.

Is waterproofing required by building code?
Yes, Australian Standards (AS3740) require waterproofing in all wet areas including showers, bathrooms, laundries, and balconies. We provide compliance certificates with every job that satisfy building certifiers and inspectors.
How do I know if my shower waterproofing has failed?
Signs include: water stains on the ceiling below, musty smells, lifting tiles, grout discolouration, and damp or soft spots on adjacent walls. If you notice any of these, contact us for an assessment before damage worsens.
Can you waterproof over existing tiles?
Yes, we offer over-tile waterproofing systems that seal your existing tiled surface without the need for full demolition. This is a cost-effective solution for showers showing early signs of water penetration.
How long does waterproofing take to cure?
Waterproofing membrane needs 24-48 hours to cure between coats, and 72 hours before tiling can commence. A typical shower waterproofing job takes 2-3 days including preparation, application, and curing.
What membrane system do you use?
We use premium Australian-made liquid membrane systems (Ardex, Davco, or Laticrete) applied in multiple coats with reinforcing tape at all junctions. These exceed AS3740 requirements and come with manufacturer warranties.
Do you fix the cause of existing leaks?
Yes, we investigate the source of water penetration, repair or replace failed waterproofing, and address any secondary damage. For structural issues, we work with builders and structural engineers as needed.
